Diane Mooney is the daughter of Master Penman, Mr. Dudley Arnold. Mr. Arnold, who was originally from Wales, was twice president of IAMPETH in 1971 and 1976. IAMPETH stands for International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting. Diane will share what it was like growing up with a father who was an expert in the art of engrossing and illumination. The second part of the program will be conducted by Birmingham Calligraphy Guild Founding Member, Jim Davis. He will share a documentary on the life of his friend and Master Penman, Mr. Bill Lilly. Mr Lilly was the recipient of a gold seal in script from the Zanerian School of Penmanship in Columbus, Ohio. On display will be 350 envelopes received by Jim Davis during a 25 year friendship with Mr. Lilly. The documentary, titled, I’ve Had My Good Day will be shown, after which attendees can examine the envelopes which are a one of a kind exhibit and have an opportunity to ask questions concerning the amazing life of Bill Lilly who passed away on June 5, 2021 at the age of 94.
