The Yiddish Book Center’s “Stories of Exile” Reading Groups for Public Libraries is a program in which librarians organize reading groups to discuss three books of Yiddish literature in translation.
These are stories of exile. Of life, loss, and love. In the Land of the Postscript makes available in English for the first time a complete selection of Chava Rosenfarb's short stories. These stories deal with the afterlife of Holocaust survivors throughout North America. Since Chava Rosenfarb was herself a Holocaust survivor who settled in Montreal after the war, she speaks in these stories from personal experience at the same time as she allows her imagination to inhabit the minds of characters far different from herself. There will also be a short film discussing the book from the Yiddish Book Center.
The program will also be streamed live on the Hoover Library Facebook and YouTube pages.
