Hoover Public Library
Fitzgerald & Shakespeare RoomsCreate a memorial in honor of a loved one who has passed.
Memorial Altar Box Workshops are a way to build meaningful individual connections to the growing Día de los Muertos festival in Birmingham. The workshops teach the traditions of making a memorial (ofrenda) as participants make personal remembrance boxes and often share stories of loved ones and address collective community loss. Supplies such as cigar boxes, art supplies and decorations will be on hand but feel free to bring mementos, photos and other items/relics to personalize your memorial.
