Writing a novel with real historical figures or creatively addressing the gaps and unknowns in your researched nonfiction can be challenging. We’ll discuss the possibilities—and pitfalls—of interweaving fact and fiction as we explore how literary techniques might enhance our nonfiction, and how research strategies might bolster our fiction.
Mairin Odle is an Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Alabama whose work focuses on early American history and Native American Studies.
